5th Annual NICU Reunion SUCCESS!

The NICU Reunion this past Saturday at NCBH was amazing!  It was such a joy to see so many (and there were A LOT) graduates and families come back to see us.  Clowns, a Moonbounce, games, crafts, pony rides, and more....the kids had so much fun.

The "Class Photos" were great and seeing so many happy, healthy graduates was heartwarming.  We missed those of you who could not make it, but we hope to see you next year.

Photos of the NICU Reunion will be available soon on the BHS Facebook page.  As soon as I receive the link, I'll post it here for you.

Have a terrific week!

Thanksgiving

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday yesterday!  We are so grateful for the many blessings in our lives here at NCBH.  I am especially thankful for the fantastic staff who worked this holiday (and so many others) taking care of our special patients.

Happy Holidays!

Quality

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines "quality" as: "a degree of excellence; superiority in kind".  At Baptist, we strive to provide quality care...that "degree of excellence" in care that you expect and deserve.

I mentioned last post that some of our staff presented at conferences this past month.  I just got back this week from one myself.  Once again, we were presenting a talk about some of the initiatives we've taken to improve the quality of care that we provide in our NICUs.

We also learned a lot this week from other NICUs around the country and have some great ideas for future projects.

At BHS, we already have great NICUs that you can trust to take care of your precious little ones, but isn't it nice to know that we are hard at work to continue to grow and ensure that the care we provide is excellent?

What is your definition of "quality care"?  I'd love to hear your ideas.

Sharing Knowledge

We are always learning....whether it is from our coworkers, teachers, or textbooks.  One of the ways that our staff and physicians continue to learn is through their attendance at conferences.  We get excited about these conferences because they provide a wonderful opportunity for the attendees to learn from NICUs across the nation....what worked for them, what didn't, what's new, etc.  This sharing can be such a great exchange of knowledge and a terrific way to motivate changes in our unit.

We had a group of our physicians, NNPs, and staff (RNs & RTs) at the big Vermont-Oxford conference in Chicago this past week.  VON was expecting over 1,000 healthcare professionals from around the world to be in attendance. Our BHS group presented a poster at the conference sharing some of the ways that we have worked to improve the delivery experience for our tiniest of patients (Extremely Low Birthweight Infants)!

Our NICU folks are also presenting a poster this coming week at the NANN conference in Palm Springs!  They will be sharing many of the things we have learned and how we have grown via our Neonatal Simulation Program with NICU colleagues from all over the world.

Way to go, NICU!
